Join “Team Maine” at the European Championships!
Why Team Maine in Spain? Join fellow Maine high school field hockey players representing “Team Maine” on an unforgettable international experience attending the U-21 European Field Hockey Championships in Spain in July, 2026. You will attend championship matches, train with European coaches, play scrimmage games, and explore Barcelona and Valencia through guided tours and cultural activities. Players will represent Maine on a global stage, testing their skills against international opponents.
About “Team Maine” / Who can apply? Team Maine” High School Invitational tours provide Maine high school athletes with the opportunity to travel internationally to represent Team Maine competing in selected sporting events. Each trip allows Maine student athletes to “Compete, Learn, and Grow Beyond the Classroom”, enhancing their sports, cultural, and educational development. Team Maine is open to Maine based high school student athletes who competed in the 2025-2026 school year (including graduated seniors from the class of 2026) who have the character, discipline, and motivation to positively represent Maine in their given sport. The trip is open to all high school student athletes, but the final team selections will be made based on recommendations from coaches and athletic directors. Proposed Itinerary
July 26 - Depart Boston Logan International Airport for Barcelona, Spain onboard an overnight flight!
July 27 - Arrive in Barcelona where your tour leaders will greet you at the airport. We will transfer you to your accommodations to drop bags/check in. Time to relax after the overnight flight.
July 28 - Today we will have a city bike tour of Barcelona, seeing some of the city’s best sites; Barri Gotic, El Born, Parc de la Ciutadella, Olympic Port, and La Sagrada Familia. A light training session in the afternoon.
July 29 - Today we will tour Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona and it’s rich history as a multisports club, including field hockey. Transfer to Valencia where we will have a scrimmage game vs local competition in the afternoon. In the evening, attend a European championship game.
July 30 - Today we will explore Valencia, a beautiful city with Europe’s largest medieval city center. After, we will attend the European Field Hockey Championships.
July 31 - Today we will play a scrimmage game vs local competition, followed by time at the beach, then attend another European Championship field hockey game.
August 1 - We will transfer to the airport to return home; leaving behind Spain, but taking with us friendships and memories for a lifetime.

What’s Included
Trip Leader Services
Full-time Trip Leaders assigned to your group for the duration of the trip and available to answer questions, handle emergencies, etc.
Airfare
Round trip airfare, including taxes, fuel surcharges, and fees (package w/o flights available if you would prefer to purchase your own airfare).
Guided Tours/Activities
All guided tours/activities (including entrance fees) to cultural/historic sites, and other points of interest as listed are included throughout the tour.
Sports Expenses
All sports related expenses, including European Championships game ticket admission. All players will receive ASTravel uniforms and swag for participation.
Ground Transportation
All ground transportation costs upon arrival (including fuel surcharges, tolls, and parking).
Accommodations
Accommodation each night at 3-star equivalent properties in double or triple occupancy.
Two Meals a Day
Breakfast at your hotel each day, and lunch or dinner each day are included.
