The following COVID-19 safety protocols are reviewed regularly in conjunction with guidance from the CDC and WHO and are adjusted as needed. Current protocols apply to 2022 programs and will be evaluated for an extension to 2023 programs and beyond. We are committed to keeping them in place for as long as they are helpful in mitigating the risk of contracting COVID-19 while participating on an ActivSport Travel trip.

ActivSport’s Promise to You

ActivSport Travel will be here for your group every step of the way! From pre-trip, while on-tour and post-tour to ensure the safest experience possible for all travelers.

  • Pre-Trip: We encourage all travelers to get vaccinated and to limit contact with non-household individuals and exposure to public places for 14 days prior to departure. If a student is symptomatic or tests positive within 14 days of travel, they should not travel with the group and should immediately contact their Group Leader and ActivSport Travel.

  • On-Tour: If a guest exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 while participating on a trip, we will help them get tested and safely separate them from the rest of the group while awaiting the results. If the test result is positive, we will be there every step of the way, from helping to secure the necessary care to facilitating medically required isolation.

  • Post-Trip Follow Up: In addition to advising all participants to monitor their health for 14 days after returning home and let their Group Leader know if they become ill, ActivSport Travel will work with the Group Leader or appropriate parties to carry out contact tracing and notifications as necessary.

Whether preparing for travel or on tour, ActivSport Travel strongly encourages all guests to take preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, including vaccination, practicing social distancing, and the use of masks in congested indoor areas.

FAQs

Is it safe to fly?

Each airline we work with has slightly different processes and protocols to respond to COVID-19 so we recommend you check the website of your airline for the most up-to-date information. Airlines are deep cleaning and requiring face coverings. Additionally, food service on the plane is either not available or pre-packaged. We recommend packing a meal and snacks!

You can learn more about what some of our partner airlines are doing to keep you safe:

Delta

United

American

Southwest

Air France

Will I need to wear a mask?

The use of masks will depend on local requirements during your time of travel. Our trips focus on being outside and enjoying the destinations we are visiting. All guests must follow any local, state, or national guidelines, and also follow any site-specific requirements for face coverings, including on the airplane and inside any cultural site or venue.

What happens if COVID-19 travel restrictions change?

When changes are necessary, we will work with our guests and suppliers to reschedule existing trips affected by the pandemic travel restrictions and allow guests to cancel based upon the cancellation policies of their trip.

What would happen if someone has COVID-19 symptoms while on tour?

If a participant feels ill with symptoms of COVID-19 (which include fever, chills/aches, shortness of breath, coughing), our team will immediately facilitate the movement of the participant to a medical professional for evaluation, and when necessary, to a location where they can safely be separated from others. We would then, as required:

  • Establish and coordinate communication with the participant and the family

  • Facilitate transportation for the participant to a local medical facility (if needed)

  • Coordinate quarantine arrangements for the participant, in consultation with local health authorities

  • Provide guidance to the group to reduce the risk of additional exposure and coordinate testing
